Contacting Marcel

If you have a comment regarding my books, or an article I've written, feel free to email me. While I try to answer as many emails that come my way as possible, I'm only one person with limited time, so response time may be slow or I may miss messages altogether. If you are having a problem or there's a question you need answered fast, it's best to post your question to the WFTL-LUG first.

In the course of an average day, I get anywhere from 700 to 800 emails. Granted, most of these are spam, but that's just another part of the problem. My SpamAssassin program filters out a number of emails into a spam folder (which I look at once every few days) and HTML formatted messages automatically get trapped by SpamAssassin. Other messages with dangerous attachments are automatically sent to /dev/null. All this to say that some things fall through the cracks.

The WFTL-LUG is a global, distributed Linux User Group, provided free of charge on my server where my readers can share information, ideas, and ask questions. If I can't answer quickly, others on the list may be able to help you out faster. It is a good crowd and the members tend to stay on topic, namely Linux. There's no cost to join, you can select digest or individual message delivery, and you can leave at any time. It's basically a great place to chat with other people who are moving (or have moved) to Linux.

I also provide an IRC channel ( #wftlchat ) on chat.marcelgagne.com.

I sincerely appreciate each and every person out there who has purchased my books and who reads my columns, but if you are trying to get a hold of me with a support question, please join the WFTL-LUG, and ask your question there first. Let me wrap this up by saying that if you did not get a reply to an email, you can always ask again.

Thanks, and take care out there.
