I'm A Millionaire! Or Not . . .

So it occurred to me that as long as I don't check my lottery tickets, I am a millionaire (sixteen times over no less). If you have a Lotto 649 ticket tonight, you are also a millionaire, as long as you don't check that ticket. Once you do, the probability wave collapses and you find out, most likely, that you didn't win. Same goes for me. The problem, of course, is that I can't claim my money and begin living the high life until I am a millionaire, or not. Damn! It looks like I need to check that ticket. But what if I didn't win? What are the odds? Fifty-fifty. I either won or I didn't. Okay, those are good odds and on one side of that probability wave, I'm already a millionaire. Oh, okay. I'll check. Good times, here I come!

Noooooooo! I am officially no longer a millionaire! And I could have used that money. You, however, might still be rich. Just don't check your ticket.

Oh thank goodness...

... I thought I was the only person that performed these sorts of mental gymnastics.

I don't have a ticket. I'm feeling somewhat sad that I might not have a 50% chance of being a millionaire.

There may be therapy tailor-made for us, Marcel.
