Lew's logo will, from this day forward, adorn all pages related to the WFTL-LUG virtual Linux User Group. For historical reasons, here's the original post that led to the logo contest, including all of the entries that I received. Calling all WFTL-LUG artists! On May 31st, 2005, I threw down the virtual gauntlet and issued a great challenge to all. It occurred to me that almost every LUG out there (maybe all of them) have a logo. This fine WFTL-LUG with over 400 active members on this list alone and representation from almost 30 countries should also have a logo. So, here's the challenge. For the next two months, ending July 31st, I will open a WFTL-LUG logo contest. You can submit as many designs as you like and I will post all the designs on the WFTL-LUG Website so your artwork will still get to see the Web light of day. Members will be free to discuss the various merits of the entries but in the end, I will decide which entry wins. The design you submit for entry doesn't have to be 100% polished, but be prepared to produce a polished version should your design be picked the winner . . . keeping in mind, of course, that the better it looks up front, the better its chances to eventually become the official WFTL-LUG logo. The logo will become the property (so to speak) of this most excellent WFTL-LUG and of the Website owner (me). The winner will receive a signed copy of my new book, "Moving to Linux : Kiss the Blue Screen of Death Goodbye! 2nd Edition" (which is due for release in August) fresh from the very first box I get my hands on. Furthermore, I'll ship it anywhere in the world. Here are the entries so far . . .
There were also some suggestions made without an accompanying piece of artwork. While they can't qualify for the contest (you have to submit an actual logo), I include them here as inspiration.
Think of it. Your logo on a T-Shirt, a coffee mug, a baseball cap, a . . . -- Marcel |
