Is it a LiveCD or are you
Is it a LiveCD or are you trying to install Linux to the hard drive of your system but it fails while trying to install? What's the text message you see?
I'm know I've had problems before with certain distributions not recognizing a small part on my system (a northbridge or was it the southbridge?). It may be some hardware problem, the distribution may not be able to recognize something on your system.
Maybe another distribution may work.
