Suse 10 problem

Here's the fix

I had the same problem and after many hours of frustration I found the solution.

When the monitor goes blank hit Ctrl-Alt-BackSpace . This will kill the Xserver and send you back to command line mode. You can also reboot into safe mode if that does not work.

Once at the command prompt, Login as root and enter the following command:

sax2 -m 0=vesa

this will force the video system to search for a resolution that works. For me it gave me a usable screen. When ou reboot it will save the settings so you can then log in normally and use the display settings control in yast to fine tune your video and monitor display.

Hope it works!

John
