hard luck with ISP

Can anyone translate these instructions for me?
My ISP point blank refuses to provide support for Linux OS's.
Any help would be appreciated.

Please configure your PC as follows,

Plug the network cable into the socket on the wall by the telephone plug.

Plug the other end into your network card in the pc and a link light (if fitted) should come on

Right click on ‘my network places’

Then click on properties

Then right click on ‘local area connection’

Then click on properties

Highlight ‘internet protocol(TCP/IP)

And click on properties

Select use the following IP address

And add the following IP Address

IP address: 192.168.0.41

Subnet mask:255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.0.253

DNS1 196.25.255.34

DNS2 196.25.255.3

What Linux distro are you using? Most have a utility to help set this up.

Looks like an ADSL connection since the phone is mentioned.
