Linspire is designed to autodetect the supported hardware at the boot itself. Almost all common hardware is supported along with built in drivers. Each new release of Linspire generally supports a larger number of computer architectures. For a complete list of currently supported ones, please visit http://www.linspire.com/compatibility. Kindly give us more details about your modem. It would be very helpful if you could provide us with some additional level of clarity around your problem. Any additional information that you provide to us, will assist us in trouble shooting your problem to the best of our ability. I would suggest you to reboot the system in redetect mode to reconfigure all the system hardware. Then login as administrator and configure the modem following the steps given in the faq link below. I would suggest you to try installing the newest Linspire Five-0 V2 version 5.1.427, it uses the new Linux Kernel 2.6.14, Xorg 6.9, KDE 3.3 and our latest hardware "detector." To get the CNR packages and Linspire OS updates you need to have the CNR Gold service active. There are many new packages available in CNR Warehouse and CNR Gold members get discounts on many commercial products. http://www.linspire.com/warehouse You can purchase it here. http://www.linspire.com/buy Before purchase, you need to try with the live CD for latest version to check your system hardware compatibility. You can download Linspire Five-0 Live iso image from the link below and burn it in a CD. http://www.linspire.com/live Best Regards, Lisa Customer 08/17/2006 09:02 AM so i just exit and reboot... Customer 08/17/2006 08:50 AM first of all i'd just like to say "hay" since this is my first time posting and i'm also an ultranoob here! hope to learn alot and be free from microsoft for as long as we all shall live!! anyhoo Smile here's my prob. i've got 2 versions of linspire 5-0 one the free trial version the other i've purchased on disc from a shop. i've also just gotten a new computer that i would love to set up with linspire but i cant. on the old machine i can run live cd of both versions and on my new machine i can run only the trial version successfully. whenever i put in the full version and try to run it live...it tries to load (status bar about 1/4 of an inch) then it just splatters numbers and letters all over and that's it! can't get it to work for the life of me... can anyone suggest something here as i'm at a complete loss and would greatly appreciate your help thanks, Response (Lisa) 08/16/2006 11:02 PM Thank you for contacting the Linspire Support Team. Could you please give us the version of Linspire (Version x.x.xxx) you are using? Many of our customers have successfully installed Linspire Five-0 on SATA Hard disks. Installation of Linspire requires a separate partition and you need to create it manually before installing Linspire and it is recommended that you create a FAT32 partition (more than 4 GB). I would suggest you to remove all partitions in the hard disk or create a single FAT32 partition and do a 'takeover' installation.
