bear with me here - first time posting and all. I was trying to start up the software from the disk included with my shiny new book. "Moving to Linux" 2nd Edition. When I got this pesky failure (forgive any case errors as I wrote this down in a bit of a hurry Last three lines from the screen before the install quit. cloop: Read Error at pos 157567913 in file /cdrom/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX, 28372 bytes lost I tried to install a couple of ways, one as the book suggested (press enter at the boot: prompt) and then I went into the f3 menu to see if there was anything special to try so I tried the following boot: KNOPPIX I'll bet that I have jacked something up but thought that I would check to see if anyone else has run into this. any suggestions on what to do to resolve this would be helpful. Update to Kernel Panic
Just incase anyone does read this and feels inclined to reply... I did run the disk from my laptop (Compaq nc8430) with no problems what so ever... so now I'm convinced that there is something wrong with my machine
Dell XPS GEN5. 3.2 GHz with 1GB of RAM and a Phillips DVD+- RW dvd8701..
Windows Media Center is loaded on it now and I've had other random problems with, but I don't know if that relates to this problem.
Any Ideas?
