Re: Movie Editing

Hello CitizenX,

I've tried a lot of video editing programs under Linux, including Jahshaka (powerful and impressive, but complicated) and Kino (not bad but limited to DV files). Lately, I've become rather fond of Kdenlive. It's relatively easy to learn, has some great features, and it works with all sorts of video file formats, including AVI. That's because it uses FFMPEG to do its work and thereby supports whatever FFMPEG supports. It's definitely worth checking out. Incidentally, I am using the SVN version right now, which is even better. The 0.5 release (based on that code) will be out in a few days. Watch for it.

As for the dual boot space for Ubuntu, I can't really answer that only in the sense that I don't know how big your hard drive is and how much space you are likely to use with data files like documents, video files, audio files, etc. When I create a dual boot system, I allocate the bare minimum amount to Windows while giving the rest to Windows.
