Which file system?

Hi there I would just like some opinions in regards to Linux file systems.

Which is a good file system to use?

I'm looking at going to Linux, considering Vector or Ubuntu or both (multibooting with w2kpro). I'm coming from a PC background..and all I've had to deal with is NTFS. Yet in the Linux world there is more than 1 filesystem option to use..I'm not too techie..I've read some of the information regarding journaled file systems on wikipedia...but a good chunk of the information is way above my head.

Anyone have any suggestions for which file system to use (in laymans terms if possible)

please and thanks to anyone who is able to reply.

Re: which filesystem?

hmm..that's good to know, thanks for the suggestion :) Odds are I'll be going with Ext3. I've got an Ext3 partition that I'm accessing from Win XP. Saves me the time of having another partition to defragment.
