Hi there I would just like some opinions in regards to Linux file systems. Which is a good file system to use? I'm looking at going to Linux, considering Vector or Ubuntu or both (multibooting with w2kpro). I'm coming from a PC background..and all I've had to deal with is NTFS. Yet in the Linux world there is more than 1 filesystem option to use..I'm not too techie..I've read some of the information regarding journaled file systems on wikipedia...but a good chunk of the information is way above my head. Anyone have any suggestions for which file system to use (in laymans terms if possible) please and thanks to anyone who is able to reply. sknight75 |

Re: which filesystem?
I like ext3.
I would stay away from reiserfs because I used that one on three Debian and Xandros systems and it works great for a few months or a year and then all of a sudden, your data is gone. I did not have trouble with reiserfs on Freespire or Linspire, and the next versions of those will offer a choice of filesystem rather than just reiserfs.
