Complete data loss?

I have an 80GB HDD running WinXP on NTFS C:\, D:\ as CDROM and E:\ as NTFS VOL1. Installed Edubuntu. Finally figured out how to get WinXP to boot again BUT now WinXP sees E:\ as a healthy but unknown partition. All my data was on E:\. Do I have any chance of getting this data back, either via Windows or Edubuntu? Any help would be *greatly* appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Complete data loss?

Well, I'm also a newbie to the land of linux, but which partition did Edubuntu get installed on?

Myself I'm running Vector 5.8 Gold on an IBM Thinkpad R51 1829 KCF. with Windows XP Black. I'm just hitting walls with how to install proggies that are outside of the Vector package management system.

I plan on putting Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 on my desktop (Athlon 1 Ghz, 1.2 Gigs of SDRAM, 60GB Boot, 80 Gig data, 40x2 in Raid-0)
