Cannot mount volume error G_DIR_SEPARATOR error ?

Hey Marcel and ALL here !
I'm trying to fix my roommate's Ubuntu Box (7.04) ... I noticed that his external Maxtor drive was only mounting as read-only . So I'd thought that I'd fix it :0)
I decided to go to the Properties tab on "disk" (The Maxtor drive) and change the ro to rw .
I did that and I got this error ...
"mount point cannot contain the following characters:
newline,G_DIR_SEPARATOR(usually /)
Now I get this error AND I can't get to the drive !!??
Man ...
I'm no newbee ... I've used Slackware back in the early day's of 1999 ... BSD ...
And sometimes I just feel like a newbee again :0)
Can anyone here help me resolve this problem ?
THANX in advance !
By the way Marcel ... Good luck on your "Moving To Free Software" book !
If you HAVE to use Windows use FREE OPEN SOURCE ... SPYWARE FREE software !
I'm guessing that is what is in the book ?
It SURE is !!!
Marcel's a smart guy !
