can't install 'moving to ubuntu linux' accompanying cd

hello,

wanting to seriously delve into ubuntu, i bought your book & installation per your book instructions is not succeeding

* system= new pavillion w/vista & 320g hd & 2g ram
* the ubuntu version on the disc in my book is '6.06 LTS'
* i ran the disc integrity checker & all was ok
* arrived at desktop & ran install via the desktop icon
* wanting to hold on to win at least for the short run, on your pg 37 eg., i selected 'manually edit partition table'
* i successfully created a 90g partition & a 1g partition
* on prompt, i spec'd the 90g partition as '/' & the 1g partition as 'swap', & both were toggled to format
* then the partitioner apparently successfully did its thing
* then the install later started & got to (on several unsuccessful attempts here) between 9% & 15% complete & then the 'installing system' aborts & the window closed & nothing further happened
* i've tried that to no avail several times

what do i need to do differently, please?!

thanks very much!
