re : wifi card connection

I was able to resolve this issue for my thinkpad laptop. Running Vector Linux SOHO 5.9.1. I had to tweak some files manually when it comes to wpa. For some reason the built in Vector tools regarding wifi security I can't completely figure it out. I am using wpa security on my thinkpad now though. I noticed that since I currently use 3 different distros (Vector SOHO 5.9.1 32bit, Mint Felicia main 32bit & Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 32bit desktop version) Mint and Ubuntu work flawlessly (so far) with doing wpa network setups from the built in tools, also no problems with recognizing ssid networks that have spaces in the name. Under Vector though for my home network, I can not have spaces in the ssid. When I did I could not connect, when I took out the spaces, I was able to connect. Strange..but that's how things worked out for me.

re: wifi card connection

I'd like to hear thoughts on this also. I'm in the same boat. I just recently purchased an Asus WL-520GU wireless router.

I have no problems connecting via wifi to my router with my IBM thinkpad R51 1829 KCF with 128Bit WEP. However when I switch over to WPA-personal I am unable to connect.

I'm using Vector Linux SOHO 5.8.

My Thinkpad's wifi chipset is Intel 2200BG.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

@Marcel Gagne, any chance you can ask Leo Laporte to do some Linux segments on occasion? Possibly cover the nitty gritty regarding wpa supplicant?

Sincere thanks,

Marc
