Installation hangs up

My computer spec is Dell Dimension 2400; 40GB IDE ; 256MB,333MHZ DDR Memory.

I have been trying to install Version 6.06LTS DVD which I got with the book 'Moving to Ubuntu Linux,' by Marcel Gagne.

I clicked on the installation icon then entered language at the language menu, clicked on forward, then the world map appears where you enter your location, but the system just hangs at this point. The only way to get out of it is to switch off the power at the mains.

I've tried two different hard disks but get the same problem.

Is 256MB too little memory?

By the way I ran a check disk for errors and the disk was ok.

Re Installation hangs up

The problem was I had too little memory. I added 512MB, checked the memory was ok with Memtest86-it was-then I installed and the installation went ok.

So, I can now work through the 'Moving to Ubuntu Linux' book.

Good job I sorted the problem out myself, with a little help from an Ubuntu forum; it did not look like I was going to get any help here.
